Trust. Our Seal for allergy-friendly products.
The ECARF Seal for greater security
Eating anything you want without a second thought, taking a deep breath, or enjoying the feel of your favourite jumper next to your skin – is it all in the past? An allergy or intolerance can turn your life upside down. The ECARF Seal certifies products and services that can bring some of the joy back into the lives of people with allergies. Fragrance-free laundry detergents, for example. Or cosmetics that are well tolerated by sensitive skin. Thousands of products and services have been certified since the first seal was granted in 2006.
Why you can trust the ECARF Seal
Our standards for allergy-friendly products and services are always based on the latest available research. We engage a panel of scientists to review our inspection criteria on a regular basis.
Security is our priority. This is why we work independently when developing and fine-tuning our inspection criteria. Our inspection procedure also follows strict, objective criteria.
We put all inspection criteria online in their entirety for the public to view – with no exceptions. So you always know what a product with the Seal stands for.
The products and services we certify have been fully adapted to the needs of allergy sufferers. An independent advisory panel of 15 leading international scientists and technicians has developed the criteria we use to evaluate different product groups, such as creams, vacuum cleaners and hotels. They include threshold values and exclusion criteria that make an allergic reaction very unlikely. The criteria are regularly updated to reflect the latest scientific findings. A product receives the Seal when it can be proved through external audits or studies that the criteria have been fulfilled.
Strictly scientificThe Seal is based on strict, science-based inspection criteria.
RecommendedIndependent consumer organisations such as Label Online have rated the ECARF Seal as ‘highly recommended’.
Highly specialisedAn organic or ecological seal is not a substitute for ‘allergy-friendly’ certification because natural substances can also trigger allergies.
Well knownMajor brand manufacturers such as Henkel, Philips, L'Oréal and Daimler use the ECARF Seal.
